I don’t think HP matters as much as size and design of the impeller. I have a 2 hp Tempest cyclone, and it tested virtually identical to the 3hp model.

I ruled the CV out pretty quickly based on its design and use of MDF construction. I wanted no part of that.
A friend of mine has the Grizzly, it could be the GO440 but I think it’s the GO441, and it’s a really nice unit. The only thing I’d do different is use a 55 gallon fiber drum instead of a smaller metal drum. Even a 55 gallon drum fills up pretty fast, and the fiber drums are lighter to tip into a wheelbarrow. I don’t use bag liners anymore, so I just tip the bin into a wheelbarrow and take it out to the compost pile.

Another thing I recommend right from the start is automatic blast gates. Even if you only get 2-3 gates… they are amazing. iVac and Grngate make wonderful products, and I have tried them both. Flip on your tool to use it, and flip the tool off when you’re done. That’s it. Dust collection is automatic.
