I am trying to build a table with tracks to help me hold things down, I have a measurement between the 2 outside tracks that is 49 13/16 I would like to add 8 equally spaced tracks between the outside tracks and for the life of me I cant figure out where to place each track to have equal space between them. can someone that has more math skills than me help me figure this out?

Thank you

Available width between two outside tracks is 49 13/16ths. You want 8 equally spaced tracks in the middle. So, with 8 equally spaced tracks, you need to cut nine filler strips of MDF. The tracks are 3/4 wide. Cut the MDF strips to a width of 5.535-inches wide. Subtract 5 from 5.535 and you get 0.535 inches. How do you convert 0.535 inches into sixteenths? Multiply 0.535 times 16 = 8.6. Hard to read between 8/16ths and 9/16ths. How to convert 0.535 inches into 32nds? Multiple 0.535 times 32 = 17.1. So, 5.535 inches is very close to 5-17/32nds. Nine strips each 5-17/32nds wide, will get you to 49.781 inches, about 0.003-inches less than 49-13/16ths.
