I had similar questions/concerns and was looking for a way to better control racking for long vise on end of my workbench. There are some limitations to large vice using chain interconnect that I wanted to avoid.
My project page posts shows how I used (2) refurbished Wliton quick release vises to create a “crazy” solution.
