Any cut where you use a tool to make it, is better done taking your time to let the tool work, or in this case the blade cut. Could be you were jerking the piece out of square, getting blade deflection, possibly in your haste you didn’t clear out all the dust from the saw plate, not allowing the stock to fit tight to the fence. Wood creep as the blade sped down through the cut and the teeth grabbed before cutting and pulled the piece out of square.

All said you could come up with a possible 100 reasons for goofy cuts. Taking your time with any of them, and generally you will make cleaner squarer cuts.

Someone said, haste makes waste, darned if they didn’t nail it.

Another thing I have found to be true, if you get in such a hurry you can graduate from making goofy cuts to going straight for a name change. Something snappy like “Stumpy” “No Thumbs”, stuff like that :-)
