In case anyone is interested, I completed the second bookshelf door. This one in oak. I’m rather pleased with the result and the symmetry of the reveals/spacing.

The area I’m attempting to now address on both the pine and the oak out swing doors is the issue of latches. The molding hides a rather large gap (~1”+) between jamb and the bookshelf side wall. Placing anything in that space impinges on the door swing. So a latch of some sort with a rather long “throw” is necessary. It also should result in a positive, tight closure and importantly be accessible. I’m open to make or purchase. I’d welcome ideas.
Btw, if anyone can tell me why upright portrait photos turn sideways when you post them here and how you correct it, I would be grateful.
Cheers, Pat
