I have a couple friends that use the Grizzly version. G0733, They have been using them for a couple years now and the only complaint that I have heard them talk about is the 25mm tool rest post. Most lathes of that size have a 1” post. So tool rest options are limited. Pretty small issue I think.
I own a Jet 16X42. No complaints here, it has been a fine lathe.
Recently though, I have been turning with Jimmy Clewes. I get over to his shop about once a month lately.
He picked up a Laguna Revo 2436 late last year. Every time I go over I grab it. Love this lathe, and I have used it 5 or 6 times now.
I have said in the past, that if I had known about the Grizzly lathe when I bought my Jet, I would have got the Grizzly hands down. More swing, and save $500.
So I have never used the Grizzly. Just trusted friends opinions and experiences. Today I like the Laguna, but it is a full 2k more than the grizzly or the baileigh that you are looking at.
So I was looking at Jet and Powermatic when I was lathe shopping. My budget did not allow for the PM. So Jet won the day. As much as I like the Laguna. Budget limits would still push me to the Grizzly option.
