one inch thick could produce a lot of exothermic heat.
if you are talking about deep pockets in the wood, I would pour them first.
a little at time, to build up to the level of the rest of the wood.
doing it all at one time could result in less than satisfactory or even catastrophic results.
I have used quite a bit of Castolite products back in the day with good results.
photos of your project would help a great deal with more accurate feedback.
