The hardware store chain known today as “Do It Best”, began life as Hardware Wholesalers, Inc. or HWI.
These boxes were branded for sale by them, but are basically the same boxes as sold under the Craftsman name by Sears.

Thanks Johnny, that is pretty cool and it does look exactly like mine! These old tools sure are fun to poke around with and see how they used to make them. A lot more sturdy than all the plastic I have seen on newer ones.
