I’ll add that you most definitely do have to be very patient when you’re looking for a used jointer. You’ll see a ton of those old short bed 4” and 6” Craftsman jointers, which are mostly junk. You’ll see the odd long bed 6” jointer come up for ~$150-$300, with some PM owners thinking their jointer is made of solid gold and that its worth $500 or more. Jump on the first decent long bed 6” you find for less than $350 or so. If you happen to see an 8 incher for $500 (not that uncommon IMO), jump on that as well. There are a lot of used 6” jointers out there because most people that buy them subsequently realize that they should have gotten an 8 incher.
