I too need to upgrade myour jointer to an 8”. At the school I taught at we had the Powermatic helical head unit. It replaced an old Delta 6”. The powermatic was great! It is really built well and easily repaired. We had Grizzly and Jet lathes there and they were not as easy to repair as the Powermatic stuff was regardless of the vintage it was. Mind you high school shops are about as tough an environment as a machine can see as many kid cares if they break something. The shop teachers always fixed them without it costing the kid anything. We could fabricate parts easily there which we often had to do for most every machine except the powermatic stuff. We also had some Delta machines of various vintages. The Powermatic stuff just needed the least repairs overall. Now as someone said, a jointer is quite basic mechanically. So I think anyone of your choices will do you well especially if you have the ability to fabricate repair parts in 10 years when needed. If you go with the Laguna, or Grizzly that might be needed. With the Powermatic, I doubt you will ever need to do any repairs on it.
