Thanks all. I think I have to weigh the lids to get a properly sized “Gas spring” and I’m leaning toward Ocelot’s suggestion. Auto trunk gas springs will probably be the strongest to do the job and most reasonably priced.
Thanks all. I have gotten all the wood work done. If he had come to me first. only his Grandson would have gotten a tack box. His daughter knows us and has seen my blanket chests and would rather have had “Dad” make the girls one of those each. With the Face of a Australian Cattle dog carved on the front. So I guess I will be making two of those in the future. Maybe Get to sell some of that “Flame box elder” for that project since it carves better than cherry.
