Every so often someone brings me a guitar, mandolin, whatever, that they tried to fix themselves, failed, then I get contacted.
I’ve learned the hard way spending way too much time trying to fix other’s mistakes. Mostly I look it over, shake my head, and tell them that I can’t do it, since they did this or that, which generally ruins the instrument. I especially liked the guy who brought me a guitar with a loose neck, save that he had tried to glue it back with metal bond epoxy. He told me it was all he had around the house…
