If you hit it with the 0000, it will turn it into a semi-gloss finish, but will hide some if not most of the streaks. Paste wax will not bring it back to a gloss. I used to use semi-gloss poly, buffed with 0000 steel wool, finished with paste wax as my primary finish when I had my refinishing shop back in the 80’s. But when we had to do a gloss finish, we had to lay it down like car paint, and no wax or steel wool allowed. (or dust!)

Before you give up and sand it back, I’d try one more coat mixed four to one, with Boiled Linseed Oil. (4 Arm-r-seal, one Boiled Linseed Oil).
It smooths out the finish without accelerating the dry, which is what the mineral spirits did, IMHO.
