Looks like your new tool will work just fine.

Use my skew or 3/8” spindle gouge, and had no trouble for that purpose. My trouble is crumbly threads even wetting wood or using CA to harden threads on both Cherry & Dog Wood Only luck have had is threading PVC pipe. I believe definitely need dense exotic woods to get successful threads. My 16 TPI threding set hangs on the wall in the package. It’s a shame really enjoy the process!
