I am leaning toward the 1” Resaw King blade and with the amount of lumber I need to cut, as well as the lack of a jointer / planer, the RK may best suit my needs. I am also considering using a less-expensive blade to supplement the RK, particularly when working on questionable pieces of wood and would like to avoid contacting any steel. A metal detector is on my list but I still have more research to do in that area.

Given the combination of saw blade cost and shipping charges, I may focus on both the 1/2” and 1/4” blades and add any others later when (and if) needed. This will be my first bandsaw and as I become more familiar with it and as I begin to evaluate my needs and uses, I can then make any adjustments.

The 18BX is rated for 143-3/4” – 145-1/2” blades and I am planning on using the recommended 145” length. I hadn’t considered the changes a broken blade repair could create, but hopefully will have enough leeway should it ever be necessary. One of the reasons I am going with the 18” over the 14” saw is to hopefully limit some of the stress on the blade to prolong it’s life.

I checked out the video and it was helpful. I’ve been digging around online for everything I can find and had not yet seen that particular video.

Thank you for the insight and it has been quite helpful. I am still weighing the many options and hope to lock things in soon. I am purchasing the saw tomorrow and am looking forward to putting it to use.
