My humble opinion, 1.75HP running at 110VAC may not cut it for you. There are reviews for the old one, as you say, and one main complaint was the motor.
I found this one: JWBS-18QT 18-Inch 1-3/4 HP – and same issues, some reviews as late as 2016.
The price is also a bit steep for me.

I own the G0513X2BF, paid about $1200 for it five years ago. And although it only resaws up to 12”, 2HP motor running at 220VAC with the electric brake makes it one heck of a saw, and actually an award winner from one of the larger woodworking magazines. A veritable horse of a saw.
One thing I will tell you – once you own a saw with an electric brake that will stop a bandsaw blade in a bit under two seconds, you will wonder why you didn t buy one of these before?
My smaller Powermatic does not have it, and I wait, and wait, and wait for that doggone blade to stop. PITA…

Awesome! Thank you for you’re input. I was afraid of that, but now am glad to know! much obliged! A lot of good information. Back to the drawing board… I think I’ll look into the Grizzly for sure. Thanks again Tennessee!
