I have had a Nova DVY XP for over 4 years. It was a huge improvement from the ShopSmith I inherited from my father. No problems during that time. It is a quality made machine. Love the digital speed control and reversible direction. Although I have never used one of the large beefy lathes like those made by Robust and Powermatic the DVR was the perfect second step lathe for me. If the Galaxi is like the DVR, then I highly recommend it. When turning the machine is constantly adjusting speed as resistance varies to maintain your chosen speed. The adjustments are smooth with no noticeable jerks I set mine up to use 220 from the start so I can’t speak to how that is a benefit. The cast iron legs make the lathe very stable unless I mount something very unbalanced. I added the bed extension and extension swing away when I did some softball bats. Also added the outboard tool rest which great when turning the inside of a bowl.
