Well now, local wood report

I made it to Petermens, and well, it was ok, had a couple odd items, but assitance was limited, i didn’t have all day to wait on someone to answer my questions, so moved on to Northwest Wood Works, home of the wood chef, around 5411 West orange dr, ste 117 i believe, wife and husband operation, Riena (spelling) was very helpful, lots of slabs, some milled stuff, lots of turning pieces. I did pick up a gaggle of splated alder, never seen it before, but boy howdy was it a purdy thing.
also grabbed up some quarter sawn syacamore, little more subdued figure, but i’ can work it in some where.
Inpressive little joint, a joint i like to buy from, gal was very knowledgable about just about all things wood, but did share she only learned it in the last year, but is still learning. Absolutely beautiful piece of olive burl, i was trying to figure i i had the skil to turn, but opted to go another direction.
nice slabs, i see some future in the place.
thanks to all who shared..
now on to the joint in mesa later this week,
i’m on the lead of some nice junks of sissoo, wood for turning, however some may be large enough for me to resaw and get some flat stock.

At petermans, they did have a slew of nice looking maple slabs, good size and cheap, I”m a gonna have to figure out a project for a couple and make a run.
