You want a low angle, not std angle block. While many will poo-poo them, I have a modern era Stanley 12-960 that works great. It did require flattening and tuning, but not restoration. ~$35. The Veritas Apron plane with PM-V11 iron is $99. Doesn’t have an adjustable mouth. Just sharpen the blade and go.
