I don t agree with buying a jointer online and waiting so long.
Inspecting a jointer before you buy is a very good advantage.If you don t have a good reliable straight edge ask to see the machines make two good edges on piece of maple or white wood.
Hold them together and look for any gaps.
Big gaps would be bad -little gaps better -no gaps great.

Inspecting any tool is a good thing but in my opinion, a jointer is one of the simplest of all the machines for woodworking. If it leaves a gap in wood, then that is primarily an adjustment issue. The only thing that would make a jointer a no-buy situation is if the beds themselves are not flat.
