You can usually get an idea of where the price is by looking at how long they have sat out there… the Unisaw has been out there for almost a month, and the PM for almost two weeks. Good deals go in days, really good deals go in hours. The exception to that rule is when the damn owner sells the machine and doesn’t remove the ad, so it just sits there until it expires on its own :(

Although you can use that fact as a negotiation point… if the seller isn’t getting any serious inquires and it’s been sitting out there for a while, they are a bit more motivated to drop the price in order to get it sold. Bottom line is that it never hurts to throw out an offer for what YOU think it’s worth and how much you are willing to spend. They can always just say no, or just ignore you. No harm, no foul, and there will always others showing up in the future.

And just an FYI – the “Platinum Edition” saws were just a marketing campaign. Basically just gave them a custom paint color and threw in a couple of goodies to sweeten the deal. There is nothing inherently special about them unless you just like the paint color :)
