Not a hand tool master, but I do have a little experience with the WoodRiver v3 blade.

I got a WR v3 blade for my HF copy of the #4 plane. It is a nice blade and holds an edge well. I definitely give it a thumbs up, as it is a good blade for the money. The one I got was .125” thick, so I opened the mouth a bit to make it work. I don’t mind modifying because it was a cheap plane, it works so much better that the one that came with it, and the mouth needed cleaning up anyway.

If you’re looking for a slightly thinner option, check out Hock Tools. Theirs are 3/32” so they may not require modification to the mouth. I have had good performance from Hock, though they do cost more than the WR.
