Giley,

Why?

Giley,
This is the critique I sent Grizzly. They said as long as nothing was broken, there was nothing they could do. I didn’t expect the to actually. I know they don’t make or design the tools they sell. Just marketing.

Grizzly G0555LX Critique

1. The shipping box could have been packed correctly. The words, on the box, were right side up but the contents were packaged up side down in the box. ) instructions were at the bottom of the box as shipped. All the weight was on the top of the box as shipped.
2. Assembly was straight forward.
3. Blade did not line up in small slotted table insert. Needed to file that.
4. Blade guides are adequate but fiddly to adjust. Fine threads are needed here.
5. The rack and pinion assembly needs shorter way adjustment set screws with a tighter fit. They look like a knuckle scraper where they are located. They are not a standard set screw as they have a spring-loaded ball in the end. Also the locking handle for the rack/ pinion needs to be a bigger diameter with fine threads. Better grip/better locking.
6. It would be nice to have a little area to store the allen wrenches that you need to adjust things.
7. The little indicator block on the tensioner is 3/8” thick with no clear indicator for setting tension. You need to remember that the top if the little block below the spring needs to align with the correct spot on the body of the tensioner. A little arrow or pointer would be nice.
8. The upper guide shaft was not parallel to the blade. I needed to adjust the lateral guide for the upper wheel all the way to the rear of the saw making the smaller table insert even more useless.
9. Keep the lock and give me a 110v outlet for accessories (Lamp/vacuum)
10. The tension knob adjustment shaft needs to be long so the knob is located another 1” higher to allow for knuckle clearance.
11. Why does it take 3 different sized allen wrenches to adjust the guide bearings?

Overall I am satisfied with this saw. I have never owned a band saw and I think this is a good value for the price. It just seems that with a little more quality control and retooling (fine threads) this model would be a lot better.

Rikon by a mile. I do have the Grizzly G0555LX and I wish I had purchased the Rikon.
