Vinegar will do the trick. Takes some time but it will eventually loosen up. Word of caution, don t let any metal come in contact with the wood as long as there s a trace of vinegar on/in it. It ll turn the wood black.

I d pull the screws and use the holes to get the vinegar to the glued joint.
