Vinegar will do the trick. Takes some time but it will eventually loosen up. Word of caution, don’t let any metal come in contact with the wood as long as there’s a trace of vinegar on/in it. It’ll turn the wood black.

I’d pull the screws and use the holes to get the vinegar to the glued joint.
