Lumber can take up a lot of room in the shop and you don’t use it fast enough to make up for the wasted space. If I was in your shoes, I’d consider beefing up the ceiling joists so you can air dry & store lumber in the attic. Put doors on the both gable ends for ventilation and outside access to the attic. The attic will become a solar kiln in the summer.
