There will always be calls to make it bigger, pretty much no matter what size you propose…...and there’s a reason for that. But back to your initial idea, I think what you want to do is quite workable and should meet all the criteria. The one thing I would do is put it next to the drive (that looks like the left side?) so it has a drive available. Having them in the middle of the yard sucks. I think getting a building to match the existing house should be fairly easy. You did not mention height (that I saw), consider building it with 10’ walls, useful both in the shop section and the garage section.
