Yeah, I made mine recently (links to parts in my projects) and spent way less (no rechargeable battery, though). It depends on how much stuff you already have. I got an oversized (for this application) power supply and bluetooth board (the one linked above) for about $22, $30 for a pair of 4” Kenwood speakers (lots of folks use cheaper ones), and $18 for the lumber (walnut and curly maple). All said and done, $70. It certainly sounds better than other bluetooth speakers I’ve heard in that price range, and definitely looks better (to me, anyway).
