I had a similar problem with my Delta bandsaw shortly after I bought it. It was 20+ years ago so I don’t remember the details – and they probably wouldn’t be relevent to your problem anyway. But I called Delta and described the problem to them and, since it was under warranty, they sent a rep out to my house to repair it. So my suggestion is to call Delta’s customer service. Have the model number, serial number and any other info available when you call. They’ll likely be able to tell you what’s wrong and how to fix it.

Along the same lines, the worklight on my Porter Cable drill press was damaged when I unpacked it this past fall. I called their customer service and they sent me a new light. I wasn’t sure how to go about the repair (a lot of dismantling of the pulleys, etc. was required) so I stopped by the Delta / Porter Cable service center in Norcross / Metro Atlanta, and the tech there walked me through it so I could complete it at home and not have to load the whole thing up and haul it over to them.

My experience has been they’re very helpful and you’re likely to save yourself a lot of wheel spinning by calling them.
