If I had the time I would rip out the top board and
try to move it up a little on the right. You have a
board in the way so I can t see if there are spacers
in there that can be removed. If they can be, sometimes
some hard whacks can persuade a nailed board
a little.

Moving the board down on the left with a prybar
might work as well… or pound wedges in to
move it. Of course you d probably have to rip
off the trim on the other side as well.

There is a 1/2 inch shim on the right side.

I’ll get a pic of the bare opening.
