In my post above, #9 in the thread, I miss-typed the saw model number of my Rikon. I selected the Rikon 10-326, which is a 14” steel frame saw.

There are as many users that prefer the roller bearing guide designs as there are that like ceramic guides. There is simply not a clear winner in this contest in today’s marketplace. While I determined that bearing design difference was not a top criteria for my choice of machine, I do really like the easy adjustment that is incorporated into the latest style of Rikon roller guides. I have enjoyed using them and would choose them, and this whole saw, again.

I defintely agree that Matthias Wandel is an interesting guy on the internet. In the video linked by Desert Woodworker, you can learn about some blade guide factors. But note that Matthias built his own wood-framed bandsaw, and does not use any of these models we are discussing, and you will see that every guide he tested in that video is a roller guide system.

As far as I determined, none of the Rikon and Laguna saws are built so that you need to remove the table to change the blade. Having to do that would be a big-time major drawback for me. I didn’t see that on the Jet saws either, which was the third brand I had in the running.
