Sharp sharp sharp. If you can pare pine you should be able to pare just about anything. Cherry and maple are nice. No problem. I like practicing cutting to left and right of a line on scraps. That way you’ll get a lot more work in figuring out how to saw right on the line as opposed to spending a bunch of time marking up dovetails. Just my opinion. Worked great for me.

One day. The bench won’t have 5 projects on it. That will be the day.
