I’m primarily going to use it on hardwoods – often not thicker than 1” – but I’m hoping I can use it for wider material also – so with the whiteside bit (the one with the bearing closest to the router) I hope you can take on thicker material with a second pass.

I think the larger Big Daddy (nice name) has it advantages in a wider diameter and ability to taker thicker material in one pass. Whereas the Whiteside is solide carbide and a compression bit.
I’ve had really good results with Whiteside so far, so I’m probably leaning that way.
