I know someone who bought a set years ago. It was an emergency. 65mi from home and he forgot his chisels and needed one. A nearby hardware store had a set of those, at a reasonable price so he bought them. He got back to the job-site and first cut drove the 1 inch through a staple.

He was afraid he had ruined the edge on his brand new tool, but close examination showed the chisel was undamaged. I watched it happen. We were surprised. I wouldn’t make a habit of that sort of thing. You might not be so lucky.

In my opinion, You can’t go wrong with Marples.
