When sanding frame parts you can get away with running the feed
too fast and the drum will flex on you but it won’t stall or tear the
paper. When sanding panels for flatness you are removing lots of stock
so you need to only kiss the high points at first, take more than one
pass on each height, and go down in tiny increments…. otherwise the
drum will flex up at the open end.
