I went ahead and worked something out. Here is a small view of the bench and saw

I drilled a couple of holes and then screwed these pieces in. I was able to drive them flush so I can remove the fence and use the surface when needed.

and the stop block. Not fancy but it is pretty accurate.

-- Is it plugged in?
