A while ago my wife bought me a Dust Deputy to use mostly with my ROS.
Like every one else I connected it using hoses.
It was looking like crap, so tired of looking at it , morning I took a few minutes and a few fittings to do that:
Lookin' good. The only crit I have is with the 90* elbows. The 90s are somewhat restrictive. 45s are better. Other than that, you'll be good to go. Do ya have a quality filter for the Ridgid? There is a low micron filter available at HD.
Bill
Yes, I have an Hepa filter in the vacuum and it always has been working fantastic.
Remember this is not my main dust collector, I use it only for sanding and to clean the machines and the floor.
I know about the 90* but I am not going to worry about it.
Hey B2,
No I have not see your set up until now. Looks effective and real cool. I didn't know about the Hepa fillter. Thanks for replying to my post. Good info!!!
II may make a cyclone cone for the top of my bucket and was wondering How tall your system was and if it's a little top heavy. I guess I could get a longer hose and just keep the vac in the comer out of the way. My shope is only a undersized 2 car garage. My system works ok but I have this curiosity about the how well the cyclone would work for me. I like experimenting to get the best results.
Tony, the first thing you need to do, is to decide what you want to do.
A shop vac is OK for small applications, I use mine for a random orbit sander and to clean the floor.
But for a table saw or a planer, it will not cut it, you need a dust collector.
My cyclone is working fine for a sander.
For my table saw and joiner and planer I use a HF dust collector which I modified and which works very well. http://lumberjocks.com/topics/32589
Funny you say that! ...In my last shop…(Back in the 80's) I had a Grizzly 2 HP double bagger. We moved out of state in 91 and I sold my entire shop tools and all. Move to TN (job related) then I retired to Florida …. Now I'm in this little garage. I feel like I'm working in a shoe box but I'm thankful for having it! I know I need something larger then this little vac but this will have to do until I can find or make room for what I really need! All my projects and tools for that matter are on a smaller scale now that I have retired so this little vac will do for now. At least I have something that works! Oh.. and I always work with the garage door open, it helps!
