I have found that some holes are just too large to epoxy. I’d try and fill it with some Elmers wood filler to just shy of the surface, let it dry for a day or so. Then you won’t have so much to fill. You might even look at some colored stone powder or metal for a fill. I use thin super glue for the final fill.
