Given the overlapping lid, you will need a pivot center outside the box. This means a traditional leaf hinge with the pin hanging outside the box or some form of “SOSS” type link hinge (hidden).

With a leaf style hinge you get loads of strength and the hinge is hidden from above by the overlapping lid. A piano hinge would provide plenty of support.

Hidden hinges tend to be rather weak.
