I have had the Ridgid R4330 for ~5yr and it has worked well for me. Had to replace bad switch recently, but that went well. I originally chose Ridgid because of their Lifetime Service Agreement, HOWEVER, my nearest service center is now almost 200mi. away. Used to have one ~30mi from home, but not anymore!

The DeWalt planers have their own “Manufacturer’s Warranty”, but just like the Ridgid, not serviced locally, so I wouldn’t depend on Home Depot to help out here (other than their 90day return policy).

All that being said, IMO buy the best planer you can afford in order to minimize the chances of purchasing a poor product.
