I like to leave my truck open the vast majority of the time which makes it much easier to see and haul material. I did however buy a lightweight metal cover that I use for camping, hauling loose debris, locking tools in truck (if not locked in a metal job box) etc. I paid like $50 for it at a wrecking yard several years ago and it comes handy when I need it, yet is light enough to remove it myself. I’ve seen folks make lifts in the garage which raises and lowers the cover to and from the truck.
