Thanks JayT, now that reference looks a lot closer!

I looked at my Jatoba block and the mystery wood side by side. The end grain is similar, but the color is way lighter and redder. My block also does not have that grout ring grain that is widely spaced in the mystery wood (both pieces are flat sawn).

Another data point, density is .725 (grams/cc which fits right in with listed specs for Jatoba)

I had an older post trying to identify my block, the density of that piece was 1.1. Maybe my “reference” is really Ipe???
