Just to throw my hat into the ring…. definitely as big as you can afford / fit in your work space. I deeply regret buying a 8” saw primarily because when I started woodworking (last summer) I wasn’t sure I would have a use for one often (I was wrong I use it all the time), I couldn’t afford a better one as the next size up being a 10” was over $300 more expensive than the $150 I already spent (power tools are a fortune in the UK) and I have a very small 12ft x 10ft shop. So please learn from this novice’s mistakes and buy as big as you can or you will regret it like me. I have been trying to kill my crappy saw as wife won’t let me buy another whilst it’s still working!

Be sure to get some quality blades for the saw as crappy as my small saw is it was the difference between night and day once I bought decent blades the included one was as helpful as a dose of the clap.
