Where I live people consider 14% MC to be about right for air-dried wood outside (in other words, about the moisture equlibrium point). NJ in the summer’s pretty humid, so I bet the MC of the wood is about what you’d expect until you can get it into a climate controlled environment. In other words, not a sign that it was poorly dried.
