Added thoughts: Another virtue of that (and larger) shapers is that it has a good range of vertical adjustment. I would stay away from any of the small (3/4 to 1 hp) shapers because they are usually limited to less than an inch of vertical adjustment. Also, they usually have only a 1/2” spindle. If you do need larger cutters, you’ll need a 3/4” spindle or larger. An example would be panel raising cutters.
