I have an antique marking gauge made with mahagony and brass. and I need to replace the brad in it. Does anyone know or have an idea on how to replace the cutting brad in the end. Thanks.

Mike, if I'm understanding you correctly, that shouldn't need replacing… and is usually steel…
If it isn't exposed enough, they can be pulled out a little more with a pair of vise grips or a metal vise…
If it's exposed too much, you can tap it in a little further by tapping the point on the metal vise and re-sharpening it…
You just don't want to push-pull them, back and forth, too much or they'll be too loose…
If that happens it will need replacing with something of similar shape, only a little bigger…
Hope this helps…
Oh, I forgot to mention… if it's not exposed at all, or not enough for you to grab, they usually go right through anyway… meaning, you should be able to take a tiny brad and tap it out a little from the back side…

Thanks guys for all the *helpful" hints. I may be able to grab it with a pair of needlenose pliers. Thanks for jokes too, I wouldn't expect any less from you guys. LOL God Bless, mike
