Thanks to all who responded. Johathan hit the nail on the head. I was trying to check the moisture on the inside of a kitchen drawer which I finally got a reading on at right around 5%. When I tried checking wood in the shop I got readings every time – all of them well above 5%. I almost sent it back. Thanks again.
