I like to buy my paper from onlineindustrialsupply.com. No affiliation, but made in the USA paper is 35-50% the cost of Norton 3X. I really like 3X, but it is pricey. My all time favorite, though, is from Mirka. The Mirka Carat and Mirka Gold are probably the best papers I have ever used. They are a joy to use compared to anything I have purchased from the BORG over the last few years. I do not like the stuff with the mildly tacky back, but I do like the latex impregnated backing. It holds up very well. So my recommendation would be:

- Stearated aluminum oxide (unless you will do lots of metal sanding)
- Latex impregnated backing
- No sticky or tacky back

Best of luck!
