Thanks barry,

We decided on the brushing lacquer since 1) it will match the shelves and 2) it either doesn’t yellow the wood (at least initially) or doesn’t yellow it much at all.

I’m just about done applying the lacquer, I just have about 4 more coats to do on the bottom, when I’m done with that the top will have had 2 or 3 days to cure, I’m hoping that will be long enough to work it to it’s final semi-gloss finish.
