I have yet to toss any of the cases, even the more useless ones that takes to long to get the tool back in, if it will go back in. But when it comes to the cardboard boxes, documents and such they get tossed rather quickly. And when I buy used I am more interested in the condition of the item and not the packaging. I am not a collector ( I am an accumulator ) and usually could care less. Instructions are read, skipping over the generic safety warnings and if after that it is pretty much common sense, they go also. I all ready have to much clutter in my life to add to it
